In 2021 Sr. Jacinta Duong started to join the Talitha Kum Asia Coordinating monthly meeting. Since then she has been active in participating in monthly webinars. After that, she invited Sisters and priests to attend the online training for Asia in June-July 2021.
Sr. Jacinta was trained in the Talitha Kum program and also used to work for the Anti-human trafficking of Sai Gon's Caritas in this field. She is approved to work for Justice and Peace of the Good Shepherd sisters in Vietnam. After the short training course of Talitha Kum, she invited two young girls who feel interested in the program and were trained as Youth Ambassadors for Vietnam. Then they team up and make plans for raising awareness programs through social media. There are many youths who came to know and join in the programs in many ways. Sr. Jacinta and Sr. Magdalen are teaming up to organize the youth program. Once in a while, Father Joseph Nguyen (Scalabrinian priest) would join them. We are still in the process of organizing Talitha Kum Vietnam because some Women's Religious congregations are still not comfortable with coming up to work for the anti-trafficking work due to the sensitivity of the government concerns. At the moment, we are concentrating on the Youth Ambassadors program with the permission of the parishes and other NGOs.
Hence, Sr. Magdalen is in charge of the Youth Ambassadors program at the present. We are inviting some religious, and youth who feel interested in the program and continue to do what we have planned.
Goal: To build a strong network of youth against human trafficking.
Mission: Strengthening coordination, communication, and information sharing, solving human trafficking issues with a focus on prevention and support for young Vietnamese people. We stand with young people at risk of becoming victims of human trafficking and unsafe migration. We value and foster partnerships and partnerships with all organizations committed to eliminating trafficking and its causes.
