Japan is a destination for many migrants seeking better employment opportunities, yet many find themselves vulnerable to sexual and labor exploitation. The country’s legal system often falls short in adequately protecting foreign workers or preventing human trafficking, leaving countless individuals to suffer in silence.

In response, the Youth Ambassadors of Talitha Kum Japan are actively raising awareness about these critical issues. They engage youth groups in churches and students from elementary to high school with lectures on human trafficking, migration, human rights, child labor, and fostering compassion. These efforts include presenting case studies, facilitating class discussions, and educating students on trafficking issues unique to Japan, along with strategies for self-protection. 

Recently, Youth Ambassador Rise even traveled to Jakarta to collaborate with Talitha Kum Indonesia in raising awareness about the exploitation of Indonesian migrant workers, who are at risk of human trafficking in countries like Japan. The advocacy efforts of TK Japan and their Youth Ambassadors for the past three years are a testament to their commitment to justice and human dignity. Their work not only inspires substantial change but also exemplifies the power of youth-led advocacy in addressing global challenges. Claire, a member of Talitha Kum Japan Steering Committee, is hopeful that with the right resources, the Youth Ambassador program will continue to inspire change and encourage youth to take action, not just by raising awareness but by sharing their own experiences as Talitha Kum Ambassadors. 

Through these initiatives, the TK Japan youth ambassadors are making significant strides to raise awareness through advocacy work and empowering younger generations to recognize and challenge exploitation.
